On 27 February, the branch of JSC “MOESK” – the “Eastern Electric Grids” held celebrations dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the company.

The history of the branch started on 1 January 2008, when the teams of four grids: the Noginsk, Shatura, Kolomna and partly Eastern ones united to form a new enterprise.

Each of the grid branches is almost a century old. Creation of the Noginsk Grids starts in 1920, when an independent company – the Bogorodsk Cable and Transformer Division was established on the basis of high-voltage lines extending from the Bogorodsk Plant “Electroperedacha” on the initiative of G.M. Krzhyzhanovskiy, one of the authors of the electrification plan (GOELRO). It became the ancestor of the Noginsk Electric Grid District.

Completion of construction of a transit, which bridged the Shatura SDPS with the Kashira SDPS, by early 1930, and commissioning of Red’kino-Zaraysk and Zaraysk-Ryazan 115 kV OL marked the beginning of the history of the Kolomna Electric Grids with a center in Golutvin, at the Kolomna substation.

Foundation of the Shatura Electric Grids can be attributed to 1917, when the meeting of the Council of People’s Commissars decided to build a power plant at Shatura rich peat deposits.

Today the Eastern Electric Grids represent 12 electric grid districts (the Balashikha, Shchelkovo, Noginsk, Pavlov-Posad, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Shatura, Yegor’yevsk, Voskresensk, Kolomna, Ozery, Zaraysk and Lukhovitsy ones), 16,000 square kilometers of the attended territory, 174,000 household consumers, 14,000 corporate customers, 149 high-voltage substations, 15,000 km of overhead lines, 1,700 km of cable lines, 2,000 employees of the branch.
