Quantity of the gas-insulated equipment (circuit breakers and current transformers) on the balance of branch of JSC “MOESK” Northern Electric Grids, is increasing. In 2012 in the course of the first practical stage of a standard project implementation to substitute the obsolete switching equipment by the modern gas-insulated equipment at 13 substations, located in the responsibility area of the Northern Electric Grids, 32 tank type SF6 circuit breakers were installed as it had been planned. In 2013, in the course of the second practical stage of a standard project implementation, 21 tank type SF6 circuit breakers will be installed at 6 substations of the Northern branch of MOESK. A guaranteed service life of SF6 circuit breakers – is five years; it takes the technical specialists of NEG not more than seven, and in some cases – two days to dismantle the obsolete equipment and to introduce the new one.

Tests have shown a high reliability of the new equipment: a number of the fixed failures of separate elements of the circuit breakers are 0.08 for 100 units of the installed equipment.

Main advantages of such circuit breakers – is explosive safety and fire safety, a high speed of operation, wear resistance, a high rupturing capacitance, possibility to create a series with the unified parts, suitability for the internal and external installation. Maintenance of the gas-insulated equipment includes a measurement of parameters of SF6 gas, checking and repair of the heating system, checking of preset values of the signaling devices of SF6 gas’s density, a calibration of electric-contact manometers, maintenance and repair of gas and technological equipment, deficiencies and failures elimination, occurring in the course of operation, etc. Rules non-observance of handling and operation of the SF6 gas equipment is fraught with serious technological disturbances in the operation of the entire grid complex, that’s why it’s very important to master a technology of its competent operation.

To organize maintenance of SF6 gas equipment and to create the system of diagnostics (monitoring) of SF6 gas equipment, the technical personnel of the substations of the Northern Electric Grids will have training in Balashikha, on the basis of plant-producer of SF6 gas equipment “Eurocontact – high-voltage equipment”. Branch of JSC “MOESK” Northern Electric Grids has formed the groups of specialists, which will pass examinations to be admitted to the work at the new equipment, after the courses of the theoretic and practical training will come to an end. It’s noteworthy, that the technical personnel of the Northern Electric Grids will attend all the stages of assembly of SF6 circuit breakers. The acquired skills will help it, where appropriate, to substitute on their own any broken down element of SF6 circuit breaker, without help of the factory specialists.
