JSC “Moscow United Electric Grid Company” implements the “Energy-efficient office” program that provides for installation of solar collectors at the Company facilities.

The first such installation is used for hot water supply and partial heating of the premises of a new Customer service center in the town of Volokolamsk.

Solar collectors are the devices designed to convert a part of the solar radiation spectrum into thermal energy and transfer the received energy to the heat carrying agent for delivery of hot water, which saves up to 60% of the electric energy consumed to heat water in water supply and heating systems.

The main advantages of this solution include the energy-saving effect (the estimated saved energy amount totals up to 5 500 kWh per year) and, consequently, a more efficient use of non-renewable energy sources. According to experts, the total payback period of the project is about 7 years.

JSC “MOESK” has defined other pilot facilities where it is planned to install solar collectors.

For reference:
Vacuum solar collector is designed for conversion of solar energy into thermal energy. Rays are collected by the absorber and go to the heat pipe filled with coolant. After this thermal energy goes to the heat exchanger via the dry contact. This device is installed on the facade, pitched or flat roof and it is also possible to install solar collectors on the ground.

This device has the greatest economic efficiency (shortest payback period) when used as an auxiliary heat source for the facilities where the primary hot water supply and heating source is the electric energy.

Solar collector operation does not require any additional special knowledge and skills.

A technical feature of the vacuum (tube) collector, which is worth mentioning, is that it can generate heat even at sub-zero temperatures, down to minus 20 degrees Celsius and below.
