PJSC “Moscow United Electric Grid Company” (belongs to the Rosseti Group of Companies) completes renovation of 110 kV “Strogino” substation of Central Electric Grids branch. A new 110 kV indoor two-section switchgear was put into operation.
The unit is a superstructure built as the third floor above the old indoor switchgear of similar voltage. This approach significantly improved reliability of the main substation without expanding the built-up area, which is especially important given the shortage of such areas in the metropolis.
Improvement of the promptness of the services provision became possible due to installation of a modern automated system of the substation technological processes control. It enables the operator on duty to operate 110 kV electrical equipment using a computer, which significantly improves workplace safety at the substation. In addition, modern microprocessor terminals of equipment protection from the best international manufacturers have ample opportunities for programming and improved reliability, performance and degree of informativeness for operating personnel.
Within the framework of the 110 kV indoor switchgear renovation, there was installed new modern electrical equipment, namely new disconnecting switches, 110 kV voltage transformers, modern and eco-friendly 110 kV SF6 circuit breakers.
“Strogino” 110 kV substation is one of the key substations in the Northwestern Administrative District of Moskow. It supplies electricity to healthcare and education institutions, residential buildings, Metro and Ashan shopping centers, Strogino district thermal power plant, Crocus City shopping and exhibition center, the subway, tram depot, Orbita technical park.
“The renovation in progress will not only improve reliability, quality and safety of electric power supply to consumers but also improve the substation maintenance promptness,” said Pavel Samylov, Deputy Director, Chief Engineer of Central Electric Grids.
The renovation is scheduled to be completed in late 2015. The investments of the Company in modernization of the main substation totalled RUB 329 million.
