The power engineers of PJSC "MOESK" (GC "Rosseti") will install 1000 bird protection devices (BPD) on the territory of the Taldomsky municipal district of the Moscow region by the end of 2018.
The "Crane Homeland" natural reserve is the largest pre-flight cluster of gray cranes in Russia. Among the inhabitants of the reserve are 227 species of birds, most of which are listed in the Red Book.
The program for installing BPD in the reserve is being implemented in PJSC "MOESK" from the fall of 2015. In 2015-2017, the power industry installed more than 2200 such devices on the 6-10 kV transmission lines in "Crane Homeland".
In 2018, work will begin on installing the BPD on the adjacent territory.
Bird protection device ensures the safety of birds with a wingspan of up to 1.3 meters. It is attached to the pin insulators with the adjacent areas of current-carrying (current-conducting) wires and practically excludes the possibility of electric shock to birds.
Alexei Irzhak, Director of the Northern Electric Networks, a branch of PJSC "MOESK", note that the task of the power engineers is to ensure the protection of birds during the operation of the power line, to preserve biological diversity in the reserve.
Olga Grinchenko, director of "Crane Homeland", notes that MOESK was the first in the Central Federal District to start a program to install BPD. And it did its job with high sufficiency. Next in line is the equipping of power line supports with bird protection devices in the west and east of the Moscow Region. By 2020, it is planned to equip the 6-10 kV transmission lines with more than 2000 BPDs.
