On January 30 of current year, the Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, opened a new 220/20/10 kV substation called "Belorusskaya" in the north of the capital, built by the power engineers of PJSC "Moscow United Electric Grid Company" (part of the GC "Rosseti").

After its putting into operation, "Belorusskaya" became one of the main substations in the northern part of the capital, and closed the 220 kV Moscow energy ring, consisting of 12 large modern energy-efficient substations. Sergei Sobyanin addressed this firstly in his speech.

Also Sergey Semenovich noted: "Moscow energy industry meets high reliability requirements. The system has created a decent power reserve - about 16% over the historical maximum of energy consumption. In order to support and develop the Moscow power supply infrastructure, network companies annually reconstruct and build hundreds of kilometers of electrical networks and hundreds of substations. These are objects of a new generation - environmentally safe, energy efficient, mainly using domestic equipment. An example of the modern metropolitan energy infrastructure is the substation "Belorusskaya" on the Khodynka field, which we are opening today".

The substation "Belorusskaya" with a total transformer capacity of 360 MVA is intended for power supply to consumers in the Northern and Central Districts of Moscow, including well-known city facilities: Botkin CCH, Filatov PCCH number 13, hotel "Beijing". The demand for the new substation is evidenced by the large volume of preliminary applications for connection, which amounted to 57 MW by the end of 2017.

"The decision to build the 220 kV ring was taken in 2006. The substation "Belorusskaya" became the last, the twelfth, the power center that closed the ring. Thus, more than 3000 megawatt of power are supplied to the center of Moscow according to the maximum reserve scheme, which will be used for the development of the capital's infrastructure, new construction, and the strengthening of Moscow's social base. These are new opportunities for technological connection of consumers, to which we guarantee reliable and high-quality power supply", said Pyotr Sinyutin, General Director of PJSC" MOESK ".

The substation "Belorusskaya" will also become part of a 20 kV backbone distribution network, created to improve the reliability of the city's electricity supply. The advantage of 20 kV networks (in comparison with the prevailing 6 kV and 10 kV networks in the city) is the possibility of transmitting electric power for longer distances with fewer losses.

In the modern building of the closed transformer substation, the latest electrical equipment has been installed, meeting the increased reliability requirements. In particular, the quality and safety of power supply to consumers is provided by a complete SF6 switchgear with a voltage of 220 kV (220 kV SF6 insulated switchgear); two power transformers with a voltage of 220/20 kV with a capacity of 100 MVA each; two power transformers with a voltage of 220/10 kV with a capacity of 80 MVA each; four-section switchgear and control gear 20 kV; four-section switchgear and control gear 10 kV; switchboard; relay protection and automation systems, teleautomatics.

During the construction of the 220 kV "Belorusskaya-Magistralnaya" cable line by the power engineers of the City Municipal Complex of Moscow, a modern XLPE ecological cable is used.

It is noteworthy that the installation of modern electrical equipment made it possible to build a substation in a dense urban development on a 0.68 hectare site, filled with various engineering communications.

A high degree of automation allows the work of the feeding center to be provided by only one dispatcher on duty.
