Sergey Shmatko, Minister for Power Industry of the Russian Federation has held a filed meeting at Moscow United Electric Grid Company’s facilities

On 4 January 2011, Sergey Shmatko, Minister for Power Industry of the Russian Federation held a filed meeting devoted to restoration of power supply of the districts in the Moscow Area at the facilities of Moscow United Electric Grid Company.

The minister heard the report of Roman Voinov, Chief of the Grid Control Centre of JSC “MOESK” on the situation and operations related with restoration of electric power supply in the region. Andrey Konovalov, General Director of JSC “MOESK” and Nikolay Shul’ginov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of SO UES also presented their reports to the minister. 

Andrey Konovalov reported to the minister the number of the brigades participating at that moment in emergency restoration works, scale of the assistance rendered by the colleagues of IDGC Holding, problems solved by power specialists in the developed weather conditions.

The minister drew attention to the fact that the harmonious team work of all structures participating in restoration of electricity maintenance in the developed circumstances was necessary, and especially emphasized the importance of prevention of similar situations in the future.

Then Minister for Power Industry left Kubinka for the MOESK’s branch Western Electric Grids, where he held a meeting with participation of Andrey Shishkin, Deputy Minister for Power Industry of the Russian Federation; Nikolay Shvets, General Director of IDGC Holding, OJSC; Andrey Konovalov, General Director of JSC “MOESK”, Vladimir Zhidkin, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Area Government; Alexander Gladyshev, Head of the Odintsovsky District; representatives of MA (the Main Administration) of the Emergency Situations Ministry for the Moscow Area, Federal Forestry Service of Russia, Ministry of Regional Development, etc. The main theme of discussion was close relations of all ministries and departments, which influence quick restoration of electricity supply and further maintenance of its reliability depends. The participants of the field meeting stated the recommendations and expressed readiness to cooperate actively. Minister for Power Industry reported that he had signed the order, according to which General Director of JSC MOESK is appointed as head of the working group for the relations of distribution grid companies with territorial grid entities.

During the meeting, Minister for Power Industry ordered to restore electricity supply in the Moscow Area within three days. The works related to ensuring reliability of electric power supply under the constant scheme will continue within a month after that.

The participants of the meeting also visited a large forest area, where MOESK’s brigades clear power lines from the trees, which fell under the weight of ice and snow. Sergey Shmatko asked the power specialists about their working conditions and occurring difficulties. It was reported to him that the replaceable schedule of work was observed, power specialists had an opportunity to have a rest, to recover, and to take duties after that again. Andrey Konovalov added that all the brigades involved in recovery works during holidays would receive a respective bonus.
