JSC “MOESK” has arranged lighting of 50 km of modern highways southward in the Moscow region. It became possible thanks to reconstruction of the distribution grids from 110 kV “Sanatornaya” and “Yam” substations,  power supply transfer from 6 to 10 kV provided from  110 kV “Syrovo” substation and energization of 16 transformer substations owned by the Federal State Enetrprise “Tsentravtomagistral”.

Putting into operation of new capacities at rating of 970 kVA has allowed to provide power supply for external illumination of the highways М-4 “Don” and М-2 “Krym” (“Crimea”) up to “small concrete ring”.

Implementation of such activities by a grid company has an important social significance since it facilitates development of the Moscow area’s infrastructure and traffic safety improvement.

It should be noted that numerous studies related to dependency of road traffic accidents on illumination of roads have proved that qualitative illumination of roads reduces the number of deaths caused by road traffic accidents by around 65 %, and material damage from road traffic accidents is decreased thanks to illumination by around 15 %.
