The Branch of JSC “MOESK” – “Northern Electric Grids” continues to perform actions aimed at enhancement of the consumers’ power supply reliability. As experience shows, the overhead lines (OL) technical condition within the 6-10 kV distribution lines is of prime importance for uninterruptable power supply to the consumer. On this basis, last year more than 193 km of self-supporting insulated wire (SIP) with voltage of 0,4-6-10 kV were mounted in nine power grid regions of the branch.
During the routine inspections the technical specialists of the “Northern Electric Grids” came to a conclusion that the old wire should be replaced by SIP wire in a number of adjacent to the forest or running through the woodland areas. The work on transmission line sections with the total length of 98,5 km of the wire has already been incorporated in plans. Today, 7,5 of SIP wire have been mounted; the work has been conducting in another five areas with a total length of 26 km.
Apart from the stated technical measures, the investment program of the “Northern Electric Grids” includes the changes according to which 185,5 km of the wire will be additionally replaced by SIP wire of OL 6-10 kV, and five additional reclosers will also be installed in 2011.
The planned measures will allow not only to reduce the number of outages in distribution grids resulted from unfavourable conditions, but also to minimize the probability of power grid equipment damage in case of technological disturbances.
