Western Electric Grids, a branch of JSC “MOESK”, initiates, within the framework of preparing for the fall-winter period of 2011 – 2012, repair works at the overhead power lines, substations, and distribution grids. The program of repair works provides for a step-by-step replacement of obsolete equipment.

During the first two months of the current year, powermen of the branch repaired 10 km of power line (PL) with voltage of 110 kV, and 21 km of that with voltage of 0.4-6-10 kV, and 6 power transformers. An area of 29.5 ha with power lines of different voltage was cleared from trees and sprouts.

In the course of the repair campaign, powermen of the branch pay special attention to the quality of the works. Viktor Ivanov, the chief engineer of the Western Electric Grids, says, ‘High expertise of the staff, and careful control at each stage of works compose the core of trouble-free operation in the fall-winter period of maximum loads in 2011-2012’.

In 2011, the expected expenditure for the repair campaign will amount at over RUR 770 000 000.

All the measures are aimed at ensuring quality and continuous power supply to consumers in the west of the Moscow area.

There are 5 358 transformer substations (TSS).The total number of employees in the Western Electric Grids is over 2 000 people.
