Installation of two power transformers of 40 MVA and two autotransformers of 150 MVA is being completed at 220/110/6 kV substation “Ucha”, located in the responsibility area of branch of JSC “MOESK” – “Northern Electric Grids”. The equipment installed is supplied with the most advanced monitoring system, making it possible to fix quickly violations in the equipment’s function and to eliminate them.

Substation “Ucha” was constructed in 1972, now it’s a socially and economically significant feeding center for the North of Moscow Region. It supplies with power the population of Mytischi and Pushkino districts (where 358,000 people live), industrial enterprises, widespread infrastructure of the recreation areas, and also the Northern water station of Moscow – a large and strategically important facility for the life support of the capital city.

Substation “Ucha” is also meant for a partial generation of capacity from the Northern TPP: together with 220 kV line, constructed in 2009 of “TPP-27 – “Ucha”, it provides the capacity generation from a combined cycle power unit with the capacity of 450 megawatt.

In the course of the initial reconstruction stage of the feeding center, the technical specialists of NEG substituted the oil-immersed equipment, which is hard to maintain and repair, by SF6 gas equipment; it was made at outdoor switchgears OSG-110 kV and OSG-220 kV. A common control house (CCH) with the modern accumulator property and new electric service panels has been constructed. “Ucha” got the most advanced management and protection systems on the basis of the microprocessor technology, making it possible to transfer to the qualitatively new level of the technological and operating maintenance of devices, a possibility of cooperation with the automated process-control system of MOESK.

Installation of two power transformers of 40 MVA and two autotransformers of 150 MVA on a closing reconstruction stage of substation “Ucha” will increase significantly the capacity output from TPP-27 to 110 kV grid in the entire North of Moscow Region and will create a technical opportunity to connect new consumers.
