Sochi Unites Power Specialists from all over Russia

From 3.04 to 05.04, Sochi hosted Winter Sports Games with participation of electric grid complex employees. This was the first joint corporate event within the framework of formation of the united energy and the most large-scale sports games in the history of the competition in grid companies – nearby 650 employees took part in it.

Traditionally, the management of the Federal Grid Company and Oleg Budargin, Chairman, personally came to cheer the sportsmen, and this once again proves that promotion and development of physical culture and sports in JSC “UES FGC” is an important part of the corporate policy.

During the closing ceremony, the head of the Federal Grid Company noted that the main purpose of the sports games was consolidation of all the employees of the companies that make up the electric grid complex, into a single cohesive team of professionals.

“We, energy specialists are a big family having one common goal - reliable power supply to Russian consumers. And it is important that today's sports games were a real family holiday - our workers come here with their wives and children who had the opportunity not only to support the sportsmen, but also tried strength against each other. Such events allow to unite people, share experience in informal environment, strengthen team spirit and create preconditions for solution of problems together. I am sure that the energy of sports will ensure future success in the production sector as well,” Oleg Budargin said.

The head of the Federal Grid Company also spoke about creation of a single management company in the electric grid sector. “It is symbolic that our sports games coincided with the official establishment of JSC “Russian Grids”. And now we all have the main task - formation of a strong team that can shoulder to shoulder solve complicated issues facing the grid complex of the country, like they did it here, on the sports arena. These three days showed that we have enough strength and energy for this,” Oleg Budargin said.

24 teams who passed regional qualifying rounds competed for the right to be the best of the best. Nine teams represented the executive body and branches of the Federal Grid Company, 12 - distribution grid complex companies, and three teams of students-energy specialists of the Moscow Energy Engineering Institute, Ivanovo State Energy University and North Caucasus Federal University participated as well.

Moreover, this year's winter sports gamed has become a real family celebration of physical education and sports. Successors of sports traditions of energy grid specialists are employees’ children. About 80 children with their parents took part in the game team competitions in the open air, and in the family “Funny Starts”.

Sports competitions were held at the venues of the upcoming 2014 Sochi Olympics. The main venue for the most of the competitions was the ski resort “Roza Hutor”. Cross-country skiing and mixed skiing-and-shooting relay were held in the mountains at an altitude of 2,300 meters above the sea level. The tournament in mini-football was held at the sports complex “Yunost’”, Adler. The final event of the sports games was a friendly game of ice hockey match between employees of the electric grid complex and SC “Olympstroy”. The event was held at the ice arena in the Olympic Park territory.

The sports holiday was closed by a ceremony of awarding the winners of the winter sports games. The three-day sports battles in ski racing, shooting, mini-football and competitions of cheerleader teams, whose performances decorated the sports competitions, were summed up. Winners were awarded diplomas, cups and medals. A bright ice show and mass performance with elements of acrobatics played by 60 cheerleaders were a gift for all participants of the event.

According to the results of the team total, IDGC of Center, JSC gained the main prize place. IDGC of Volga, JSC got the second place, and the team of the JSC “UES FGC’s” branch TEG (Transmission Electric Grids) of Siberia became the bronze medalist.

Prize places in skiing competitions among men were distributed as follows: the 1st place - Alexey Deryabin, IDGC of Center and Volga Region, JSC; the 2nd place - Roman Zaretsky, branch of JSC “UES FGC” – TEG of North-West; the 3rd place - Nikolay Kuleshov , IDGC of Volga, JSC. Prize places in the same competitions among women: the 1st place - Valentina Lin’kova, IDGC of Center and Volga Region, JSC; the 2nd place - Natalya Mutagarova, IDGC of Siberia, JSC; the 3rd place – Vera Kopnina, JSC “Tyumenenergo”.

IDGC of South, JSC became leader in mini-football; JSC “Kubanenergo” got the second place, the team of IDGC of Center, JSC was the third.

The branch of JSC “UES FGC” – TEG of East won in shooting competitions; IDGC of Center, JSC was the second; IDGC of Volga, JSC got the third place.

In cheerleading, TEG of East – the branch of JSC “UES FGC” was the winner; IDGC of Urals, JSC was the second; TEG of South – the branch of JSC “UES FGC” got the third place.

The team of JSC “MOESK” made up of employees of the branches “Eastern Electric Grids”, “Moscow Cable Grids”, “Central Electric Grids”, “Northern Electric Grids” and executive body made every effort to get good results. The result of the intense struggle was the “golden mean” - 15th place. The sportsmen of the Moscow Region showed their worth in the combined relay and rose to the 8th place. Given that 24 teams were competing, this is a good result. Energy specialists of MOESK took almost the same positions in mini-football and skiing, respectively 12 and 13. The company representatives took the 18th place in shooting. In the competition “Funny Starts” (4 children + 4 adults), our team took the resulting sixth place. It must be emphasized that, in comparison with the previous periods, the sportsmen of MOESK noticeably stepped forward and achieved better results than in the previous sports games of electric grid complex employees. There is no doubt that the love of the sport and pursuit of healthy lifestyle will help the energy sector specialists of the capital of the region to achieve even more important sporting victories! But it is more important, that during the games they gave a good account of themselves as members of the big happy family of Russian energy, brought home the charge of professional unity, which will support the everyday work and team spirit to achieve common goals.

Let us note that it’s no coincidence that the sports holiday of the united electric grid complex was held in Sochi. The Joint Corporate Sports Games are continuation of measures to form uniform high standards in production and social spheres. Sochi region in this direction is the pilot site. Here the solutions have been successfully implemented; they are translated to other regions. In particular, the United Center for Electricity Supply Control started its operations in Sochi; uniform emergency reserve of energy companies and many other things were formed here. Earlier, All-Russian competitions of professional skills of transmission and distribution grids’ repair crews have been held here.
