High Voltage Cable Grids – a Branch of JSC “MOESK”- Enhances Power Supply Reliability in the West of Moscow

When implementing the investment program, High Voltage Cable Grids – a branch of JSC “MOESK” – has developed the projects for construction of essential power facilities in the west of Moscow.

Modernization of 110 kV cable overhead line (COL) “TPP-12 – MGU 1,2” involves the replacement of an obsolete oil-filled cable by a modern cross-linked polyethylene cable at the section from the indoor switchgear (IS) of 110 kV “ТPP-12” to the crossing point (CP) # 1. The length of the reconstructed section amounts to 811 meters, where about 5,500 meters of cable with wire section of 2000 mm2 will be installed. The cable route passes through the Western Administrative Okrug of Moscow and the territory of “TPP-12’’ location. It is scheduled to complete the construction in the second quarter of 2013.

Reconstruction of 220 kV cable overhead line section “Matveevskaya - Presnya, I, II chain” is being continued. Today, the first cable length cable routing from the crossing point (CP) 203 to substation (SS) “Presnya” has been accomplished at the targeted facility. The route passes along the historic spot of Moscow – Victory Park and crosses Kutuzovsky Prospekt. “Plentiful communication lines, as well as heavy traffic in the west of the capital require particular attention and coordination of works with municipal organizations”, – informed general contractor JSC “Moskabel’set’montazh” ¬– SDE of “Moscow United Electric Grid Company”. – It is planned to complete the works on the cable line construction in December of 2013”.

“Total length of the cable route amounts to 4,684 meters, where 32,500 meters of cable will be installed, including about 4000 meters of the cable line which will be put by the cut-and-cover method and 646 meters – by tunneling (crossings will be made by the method of horizontal directional drilling). 60 coupling joints will be installed on the cable line. The big collector with 344 m length has been built for the cable line crossing through the Moscow river”, – noticed Edward Podadaev, Director of High Voltage Cable Grids – a branch of JSC “MOESK”.

The works are being performed as part of the investment program of JSC “MOESK” in order to increase the electrical transmission capacity and enhance reliability of the power supply to the consumers of the Western Administrative Okrug of Moscow.
