Fifty modern 110 kV vacuum circuit breakers were installed at the substations of JSC “MOESK” “Yaroslavskaya”, “Chirkovo”, “Novosofrino”, “Butakovo”, “Reshetnikovo”, “Klin”, “Solnechnogorsk”, “Senezh”. So, the technical specialists of branch of JSC “MOESK” Northern Electric Grids have fulfilled to the full extent the program to substitute the obsolete 110 kV oil circuit breakers by modern vacuum ones.

Primarily the Bulgarian circuit breakers were substituted, which had been delivered as far back as on line of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, as well as domestic brands VMT-110. The service life of the Bulgarian circuit breakers amounted to 50 and more years, an absence of spare parts and technical support of the producers complicated the switching equipment operation.

Till the end of year 2013 in the course of the renovation works, 35 kV circuit breakers will be also substituted at substations “Grachevo”, “Gvozdevo”, “Gorbunovo”, “Gorlovo”, “Gromovo”, “Gudovo”, “Vakhromeevo”, “Zaprudnya”, “Klin” and “Babayki”.

Vacuum circuit breakers provide a simpler and more reliable way of arc extinction. In operation they are more reliable than oil circuit breakers, have far lesser dimensions, provide a quick switching on of a circuit breaker at once after its shutdown, possess of the switching and mechanical resource, providing a significant increase of the operation time between overhauls, fire- and explosion-proof. Applying of the vacuum circuit breakers reduces significantly the operating costs.

Director of a branch of JSC “MOESK” Northern Electric Grids Alexey Irzhak emphasizes that a big scope of the works to substitute the circuit breakers is made in a strict compliance with the schedule. The switching equipment renovation will increase the power supply quality and reliability of consumers, among whereof there are many socially significant facilities – schools, kindergartens, clinics, hospitals.
