The World Bank has published the annual international rating Doing Business assessing 189 countries under 10 criteria of business activity regulation. Russia moved 20 places up compared with the past year.

The rating Doing Business was chosen by Russian authorities as an indicator of the success of their efforts to improve the business climate in the country. One of the points in the rating is easiness of connection to the electric grid. Russia has climbed 71 points up regarding it: from place 188 to 117, which means that significant changes have appeared in this area for the year. The capital is a special indicator of Russia regarding this point.

According to the World Bank’s report, the Russian company MOESK revised the number of steps required for grid connection. So, the number of procedures was reduced from 10 to 5, time of grid connection implementation of the applicant reduced from 281 to 161 days.
These changes reduced twice the number of procedures required for grid connection, cut the time by more than 40% and the cost by about 80%, showing the world’s first dynamic increase in the rating and thereby placing Russia into the economies that coped with improvement of the grid connection situation best of all by the years 2012/2013.

MOESK note that the achieved result is the result of a long and purposeful work. “We have worked hard to simplify access to the electricity grids and reduce the steps in the grid connection procedure for the year. The consequence of this was the recognition of good results and positive trends by the business community and the World Bank experts. Of course, there is still a lot of work to do, but the improvement in the rating for the year by 71 points is a breakthrough and success of the entire team of MOESK,” Peter Sinyutin, Director General of JSC “MOESK” said.
