The reconstruction of the existing substation is performed as part of the program of the Moscow Area Governor Andrey Vorob’ov "Our Moscow Area. Development Priorities". The peculiarity of the substation "Odintsovo" is the fact that since 1938, when the substation was commissioned, four voltage levels have been used: 110, 35, 10 and 6 kV. The newest operating equipment of the substation includes complete switchgear with gas-insulated protection of 110 kV made by People’s Republic of Chine. This equipment is used in the Russian context for the first time.

After the renovation, the total transformer capacity of the substation will increase more than 3.5 times, from 80 MVA (two transformers of 40 MVA each) to 286 MVA (two transformers of 80 MVA each and two transformers of 63 MVA each). In addition, it will be possible to switch the voltage class of the switchgear from 6 kV to 10 kV.

The capacity increase will help meet the growing need for electricity of the production and household consumers in the rapidly growing Odintsovo District, enhance reliability of feeding of the Russian Railways substations, create favorable conditions for connection of new subscribers to the grids.

The full range of works, which was started by the energy specialists of the Western branch of JSC "MOESK" in 2011, is scheduled for completion in 2014.

The business visit touched upon the issues of prospective development, modernization of electric grids of the Moscow Area, as well as the main challenges for the energy specialists of JSC "MOESK" in 2014. “In the short term, MOESK will put into operation nearby ten feeding centers of 110 kV in voltage. All investment and repair programs that are implemented in the company are aimed at increasing the safety margin of energy equipment and, ultimately, performance of the main task for JSC "MOESK" – provision of a high level of reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers," General Director of JSC "MOESK" Petr Sinyutin said.

After the event, the head of the Energy Industry Ministry noted that JSC "MOESK" worthily holds the brand of the leader in the Moscow Region in terms of the quality of development and operation of the electric grid facilities.
