On August 8, the company "Rossetti" (the majority shareholder of MOESK) has put into operation the first stage of reconstruction of 110 kV Substation "Sheremet’evo", which feeds one of the strategic assets of the country – Sheremet’evo International Airport. The work was carried out within the investment program of JSC "MOESK" taking into account future needs of the metropolitan areas in capacities.

In addition to improving the reliability of power supply of the airport, the new power facility creates additional conditions for economic growth in the Moscow Region. Consumers of the Solnechnogorsk, Mytischi and Khimki Districts, cities of Dolgoprudny and Lobnya have gained the opportunity for the development of the territories.

As a result of the reconstruction, the capacity of the power substation "Sheremet’evo" has increased by almost 60% - from 80 to 126 MVA. This allowed for provision of the airport with additional capacity for its development. Thus, it is planned to increase the airport's transmission capacity by 2015 to 35 million passengers a year, and by 2030 – up to 64 million people.

Besides, conditions for development were received by the company of the free economic zone "Solnechnogorsk-Sheremet’evo" (JSC "SHERRIZON", as well as one of the largest poultry farms of the Moscow Area – JSC "Brattsevskoe", Lunyovskoe settlement. Let us specially note the benefits created for the Solnechnogorsk District which is actively growing thanks to the integrated development of territories and plans for building 530 thousand square meters by the largest investment and construction companies.

Commissioning of new high-tech equipment was carried out from the control panel by deputy chairman of the Moscow Area Dmitry Pestov, Energy Minister of the Moscow Area Mikhail Kruchinin, head of the Solnechnogorsk municipal district Yury Pankratov and Director General of JSC "MOESK" Petr Sinyutin.

Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Area Dmitry Pestov thanked power engineers for their work. He noted that the Moscow Area is a leader in Russia by the number of connected consumers. Annually nearby 45,000 new subscribers are connected to the grid in the region, 37,000 applications of which are carried out by MOESK. Today the reconstruction of the substation gives a great foundation for the development of major consumers and respective infrastructure of the northern districts of the Moscow Area. "I am confident that the quality and reliability of power supply equipment, thanks to the coordinated work of the power industry engineers, will continue to grow, and the company management will meet all challenges."

Director General of MOESK Petr Sinyutin, in his turn, thanked the authorities of the region as well for fruitful collaboration, the MOESK team and contractors - for efficiency and professionalism. He noted that besides providing power to the international center - Sheremetievo airport - the project is of great social importance. "Reconstruction of the feeding center will provide reserve capacity to the housing estates and industrial enterprises actively developing in the north of the area. Now stable and quality power supply to consumers of the Moscow Area from Khimki to Solnechnogorsk depends on the reliable operation of the modern substation "Sheremet’evo".

During the visit, the special guests could assess the benefits of new equipment and installed software that enables remote on-line control of all parameters of the existing substation.
