New factory-assembled switch-gear with SF6 insulation (FAS) 220 kV has been put into operation at 220/110/10 kV substation “Chertanovo”. The arrangements to reconstruct the feeding center are fulfilled within the framework of the investment program of branch of JSC “MOESK” – Central Electric Grids (CEG). Investments into the project will exceed RUR 340 mln till the year end.

Substation “Chertanovo” provides with electric power a lot of socially and economically significant facilities of Moscow. Among them there is hotel complex “Sevastopol’”, State Unitary Enterprise “Mosgortrans”, subway stations “Nakhimovsky prospect” and “Chertanovskaya”, plant “Shveiman”, several educational institutions and health care facilities.

Next reconstruction stage of the substation, which was started as early as in year 2008, after the transfer to the new FAS, has become the program fulfillment for putting into service of a cable high-voltage line of 220 kV “Chertanovo – Saburovo”.

When constructing the building of FAS, the modern equipment was installed; a new accumulator battery, control switchboards and local distribution boards were placed. Besides that, two new auxiliary transformers with the capacity of 600 kVA have been installed; 10 kV cables were laid out to feed them.

“In September they will probably finish the transfer of the connections from 220 kV outdoor switchgear into factory-assembled switch-gear with SF6 insulation, and start dismantling the equipment in the open part of the substation”, - tells head of the District High-voltage Grids of the Southern administrative district Dmitry Dadatsky. Also in the reconstruction course the new autotransformers with the capacity of 250 MVA were installed at SS “Chertanovo” instead of two autotransformers with the capacity of 200 MVA.

60 days will be needed to transfer four high-voltage lines and two autotransformers with the capacity of 250 MVA to the new FAS. The works are performed with a strict observance of the schedule. Currently the installation of an end bell on 220 kV cable is being fulfilled by the workers in three shifts.

“Result of reconstruction of SS “Chertanovo” will be the increase of safety, capacity and reliability of the feeding center, – specified Deputy Director – chief engineer of CEG Pavel Samylov. – The transfer of the electrical equipment to 220 kV FAS will make it possible to decrease risks of the external actions on it on part of such natural phenomena, as wind, rain, lightning. Consequently, the quality of the electric power transmission to the consumers will be improved”.
