038.jpgAs part of the investment program of the High-voltage Cable Grids (HVCG) - the branch of JSC “Moscow United Electric Grid Company”, the project of reconstruction of the cable section of the cable overhead line (COL) 220 kV Matveevskaya - Presnya 1, 2 circuit from the transition point (TP) 203 to substation (S) “Presnya” with increasing capacity up to 1,000 Amps.”

The need for reconstruction of the 220 kV COL “Matveevskaya - Presnya 1.2” appeared as a result of a high degree of obsolescence and physical deterioration of cables, cable accessories, cable line facilities and equipment of secondary control wiring.

This site has been put into operation more than 30 years ago, in 1982. Long-term allowable load in COL 220 kV “Matveevskaya - Presnya 1, 2” was 460 Amps, and after the renovation it will increase more than 2 times - up to 1,000 Amps.

The cable line passes through a difficult terrain: it crosses the river Moskva, Kutuzovsky Avenue, streets Kulneva, 1812 goda, Denisa Davydova, Generala Ermolova and Kievskoe line of the Moscow Railway Road and Filyovskaya subway line.

In July 2013, the main phase of the construction of the tunnel under the Moskva River was completed in the district of MIBC “Moscow- City” with the length of 326 m, including:

- inclined (30°) microtunnel with the length of 76 m, 1.5 m in diameter with a height difference of 33 m - under the section of the Filevskaya subway line;
- shield tunnel with the length of 222 m, diameter of 3.6 m with prefabricated high-accuracy reinforced concrete tunnel lining, which passes under the river bed of the Moskva River at a depth from 5.5 to 9.0 m with the shield complex containing the earth pressure balance;
- camera at the depth of 20 m and area of 100 square m.

The construction was performed in difficult engineering geological conditions (the area is dangerous from the point of view of emergence of karst- suffusion processes, landslide slope, high level of underground water, placement of tunnels in silicified limestone).

The total length of the line is 4.68 km and there will be built over 32 km of cable, installed 60 couplings there. Laying the cable in the reservoir is currently prepared for.

“The project is aimed primarily at improving reliability of power supply and improvement of quality of delivered electricity,” the deputy director of HVCG for capital construction Dmitry Ivanov said. “In addition, there will be an opportunity for grid connection of new consumers. It is also important that the implementation of the proposed project will improve safety and reduce complexity of operating the cable line.”

High-voltage Cable Grids (HVCG) is a branch of JSC “MOESK”, they provide reliable power supply to customers in the city of Moscow and the Moscow Area. The personnel of the engineering administrations, services, divisions and workshops of HVCG provide performance of the main operating works and maintenance works for the 110-500 kV grid.
The responsibility area of HVCG includes more than 280 high-voltage cable power lines of 110-500 kV with the total length of 910 km, 1,125 cable facilities. Cable and cable-overhead power lines of HVCG link together over 150 feeding centers. The balance of HVCG contains almost 22 km of underwater crossings, more than 13 km of cable tunnels.
The amount of electricity transmitted through the grids of HVCG increases every year. In 2012, it amounted to 78,344,055 ths. kWh, which is 4.2% more than in 2011 This increase is due to the high dynamics of development of the economic and social sphere of Moscow and the Moscow Area.
