The branch of JSC “MOESK” - Southern Electric Grids has completed the main stages of the reconstruction of the substation (S) 35 kV “Metallist” in the Kashira District of the Moscow Area.

In accordance with the investment program of MOESK for 2013, during the reconstruction of the substation, both power transformers of 5.6 MVA were replaced by two of 10 MVA each; the complete distribution device of external installation (CDDEI) of 6 kV and outdoor switchgear (OS) of 35 kV were fully retooled. Oil circuit breakers were replaced by vacuum ones, current and voltage transformers of 6 kV and 35 kV. Protection of substation equipment is provided by microprocessor devices of relay protection and emergency control automation equipment.

In the near future, automatic process control systems (APCS) and electricity metering systems (AMIS EPFA) will be installed.

The whole package of measures is planned till the end of 2013. The total investments will be nearby RUR 72 mn.

It retained energy supply functions fully throughout the period of reconstruction of the feeding center, remaining an operating facility. Currently the facility is operating under the normal scheme.

The substation “Metallist” has been in operation since 1965 and is a leading feeding center of the old part of Kashira city. After the reconstruction, its capacity increased almost twice, that makes a reserve for connection of new customers and provision of the required amount of electricity to the most important socially significant objects, including JSC “Kashira Steel and Boiler Construction Plant”, which produces metal structures for the facilities of the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. In general, modernization of the feeding center will increase reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers of the Kashira District of the Moscow Area.
