Pseudo Terrorists Neutralized and Fire Extinguished at Substation “Sheremet’evo” During Trainings

On September 26, in the territory of the substation “Sheremet’evo”, within the framework of the command and staff training exercise (CSTE), the conventional terrorist attack was prevented and fire was extinguished at the distribution point.

According to legend of the joint exercises of power engineers of JSC “MOESK” and security forces, the diversionists that have entered the energy facility laid two explosive devices, there appeared a threat of failure of power supply equipment because of the adverse weather conditions.

Training in the algorithm of actions in extreme conditions (adverse weather conditions and increased terrorist threat) was held at the site of the Mytischi electric grid zone, in the area of responsibility of the northern branch of MOESK. Some elements of outdoor switchgear of 110 kV were built at the substation “Sheremet’evo” specially for the training, which provides electricity supply of the same-name international aviation center and a number of social facilities.

The event was also attended by representatives of the administrations of the Solnechnogorsk and Mytischi municipal districts of the Moscow Area, Khimki city district. The exercises were supervised by Alexey Irzhak, Director of the branch of JSC “MOESK” - Northern Electric Grids.

Three components were trained as part of the anti-terrorist exercise: detention of offenders in the territory of the substation when trying to take hostages, actions in the event of detection and activation of the explosive device at the energy facility. This stage of CSTE involved units of security forces of the Mytischi municipal district and Dolgoprudniy, mobile team of private security company “Codex Shchit”.

The next task of the exercise was the fire training actions, during which the issues of cooperation of fire extinguishment forces and means of the district, personnel of the emergency fire units, professional emergency rescue formation of the MOESK’s branch were exercised. The training was attended by the third search-and- rescue team “Mosoblpozhspas” and the 73rd fire brigade of the sixth unit of the Federal Fire Service of the Moscow Area. Fire suppression was complicated by the extreme smoke as a result of the bomb explosion at the power transformer.

Simultaneously, training of catering of the staff of operational field, emergency-recovery and mobile teams of energy specialists in the field environment at low external temperatures was carried out.

Almost 70 people from among employees and 12 vehicles took part in the exercises.

“The anti-terrorist exercise was carried out in the environment as close to the real life as possible,” Alexey Irzhak, director of the northern branch of JSC “MOESK” said, summing up the CSTE. He stressed the harmonious actions of power engineers at all stages of the training, expressed confidence that the skills acquired during the exercise will help power companies in the passage of the upcoming autumn and winter period.
