The branch of JSC "Moscow United Electric Grid Company" - Central Electric Grids (CEG) launched the first phase of reconstruction of the "Nikitskaya" 110/10 kV substation (S).
As part of the investment program, the first phase of CEG will include replacement of two 63 MVA transformers by new ones of 125 MVA with external cooling system. This system has been specifically elaborated to meet the design features of the S "Nikitskaya" and allows placing powerful modern equipment in closed small sized chambers.
During the reconstruction, current-limiting inductors of shell type will be installed in the capital for the first time, in which the magnetic fields close the magnetic induction to themselves. As a result, metal structures located in close proximity to the reactor are not heated. This enables placement of high-power reactors in a small area.
The system of air-conditioning of reactors and relay protection will be replaced as well.
According to Mikhalyov Alexander, chief DHVEG (District High-Voltage Electric Grids) of CAD (Central Administrative District) of CEG (Central Electric Grids), now the works on replacement of the first transformer T-1 are held. It will be launched in early August. This will be immediately followed by replacement of the second transformer T-2, which will start in the middle of September. Thus, the first phase of reconstruction of "Nikitskaya" S will be completed by the beginning of the autumn-winter period.
“The reconstruction held will help to double the capacity of the substation "Nikitskaya" and to open this feeding center for grid connection of new consumers in the future, after reconstruction of the adjacent 110 kV grid,” Roman Voinov, director of CEG said.
The substation "Nikitskaya" was put into operation in 1984. It is located in the very center of the capital, and supplies electricity to many socially and economically important projects: the building of the State Duma, Moscow Kremlin, Moscow State University, Polytechnic and Zoological museums, Bolshoi Theatre, metro traction substation.
CEG plans to invest RUR 127 million into reconstruction of "Nikitskaya" S before the end of the year. Renovation held at the feeding center will be a key to improve quality and reliability of electricity supply.
