JSC “Moscow United Electric Grid Company” (belonging to the Rosseti Group of Companies) completes renovation of 110 kV “Khutorskaya” substation supplying electric power in Moscow to Russian Railways facilities and the Chernyshev Machine-Building Enterprise. The project is implemented within the framework of the MOESK investment program of Central Electric Grids branch.

“The main goal of the substation renovation was improving the reliability and quality of electric power supply to consumers. The possibility to perform all the necessary substation control operations remotely, at a distance from working electrical equipment, greatly improves workplace safety,” explained Vsevolod Ivanov, Director of Central Electric Grids of MOESK.

At the final stage of the project there were completed works on creating normal configuration of the substation being modernized. A new modern outdoor 110 kV switchgear was put into operation. 110 kV “Khutorskaya – Gertsevo” and “Novobratsevo – Khutorskaya” overhead cable lines were reconnected. Section and disconnecting oil circuit breakers in the 6 kV gas-insulated switchgear and control gear were replaced with more modern and environmentally friendly vacuum breakers.
A new 35 kV outdoor switchgear was put into operation earlier. Modern electrical equipment, namely vacuum circuit breakers, disconnecting devices, two systems of buses, voltage and current transformers and surge arresters, was installed.

Modernization of the main substation commenced in 2011. About RUR 500 million was invested by MOESK in Khutorskaya substation renovation. It is planned to complete the works at the facility by the end of this year.

For reference:
A new modular building of control station was built and a new control panel was installed at the first stage of “Khutorskaya” substation modernization. The old and inefficient short-circuiters and separators were replaced with modern gas-insulated circuit breakers, which had a positive impact on improving the main substation reliability.

An automated technological processes control system was installed in the substation. Upon completion of the renovation it will make it possible to control electrical equipment from the automated workplace of the operator on duty.
